99% of Talent Acquisition Teams Leverage AI and Automation Amidst Hiring Challenges, According to GoodTime Report

2024 Hiring Insights Report

The 2024 Hiring Insights Report, a study of 525 talent acquisition leaders, reveals a persistent struggle with talent retention, a need to automate repetitive tasks, and the strategies top-performing teams used to hit hiring goals in a challenging market.

San Francisco – January 31, 2024

After a trying year that tested talent acquisition (TA) teams in every sector, GoodTime today published the 2024 Hiring Insights Report to reveal top challenges, how TA is evolving, and how top-performing teams hit their hiring goals.

The independently conducted survey of 525 talent, HR, and recruiting leaders across the U.S. shows that hiring teams have faced colossal challenges and pressures that have forced them to evolve quickly to meet the demands of today’s market.

Key findings from the 2024 Hiring Insights Report:

  • On average, TA teams hit just 51.3% of their hiring goals in 2023.
  • Contrary to perceptions of an employer’s market, 44% of TA leaders said hiring became more competitive in the last 12 months, and 27% reported a lack of qualified candidates as a primary hiring challenge.
  • A significant 34% of TA leaders cite talent retention as a top challenge.
  • 99% of TA teams are now employing AI and automation.
  • Talent teams still spend 35% of their time scheduling interviews alone, among other easily automated tasks.
  • Layoffs have significantly affected employee morale. Companies that experienced layoffs in 2023 were about 83% more likely to report fair or poor engagement from employees.

Learning from top-performing TA teams

GoodTime’s report dives into what top-performing teams (defined as those who hit 75% or more of their hiring goals) did differently than the rest of their peers. The report reveals that the top performers were:

  • 40% more likely to focus on upgrading hiring technology.
  • 24% more likely to prioritize candidate experience improvements.
  • 23% more likely to invest in improving overall efficiency.
Top-performing TA leaders were 40% more likely to focus on upgrading hiring technology.

A major adjustment in return-to-office (RTO) efforts

After persistent tensions around stringent RTO mandates, it seems companies are letting up a bit and compromising with mixed or hybrid working models. TA leaders reported a massive shift from a fully in-office workforce to a mostly in-office approach, with a mix of fully in-office, fully remote, and hybrid workers.

  • Of the 525 companies surveyed, only 16% were fully in office in 2023 (compared to 62% the previous year).
  • 78% of companies surveyed were mostly in-office, with some hybrid or remote workers.
  • Just 1% of respondents said their company was fully remote.

A struggle to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I)

The previous year’s Hiring Insights Report found that 28% of companies planned to make DE&I a measurable priority in 2023, but this year’s report shows that only 24% followed through on that goal. Overall, the number of companies prioritizing DE&I has fallen two years in a row now.

What’s even more concerning is that DE&I is likely to be deprioritized further, with only 24% saying it’s a focus area for 2024.

TA teams are becoming more resilient

While 2023 presented immense hiring challenges, the report also surfaces major opportunities and optimistic trends among TA professionals.

  • 45% said time-to-hire remained flat, with 10% saying it decreased.
  • On average, TA teams saw a 7% lift in hiring goal attainment over the previous year.
  • 90% said they would rate their overall recruiting process as ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent.’

“This is our third year publishing this report, and positive trends are starting to emerge: Hiring tech adoption is accelerating and while teams are getting leaner, they’re also evolving and becoming more resilient for the next set of challenges that come our way,” said Ahryun Moon, CEO & Co-Founder of GoodTime. “TA professionals honed their ability to spot top talent faster. They made processes leaner and smarter. And for many of the leaders surveyed for this report, those actions are paying off. We hope that by sharing these insights, we can help struggling TA teams tap into their resilience in the year ahead.”

GoodTime Secures HIPAA Certification to Help Healthcare Hiring Teams Amid Rising Labor Shortage

GoodTime Secures HIPAA certification

As the U.S. grapples with an escalating shortage of health aides, nurses, and physicians, GoodTime secures HIPAA certification, enabling more health organizations to fill roles quickly with fewer resources.

August 8, 2023, SAN FRANCISCO – GoodTime (goodtime.io), a leading provider of AI-powered scheduling software, proudly announces the achievement of HIPAA/HITECH Type 1 Compliance. With this certification, GoodTime empowers more healthcare organizations to fill roles faster in the face of a healthcare labor shortage by utilizing Hire, the company’s flagship interview scheduling platform.

Addressing the Healthcare Labor Shortage

Amidst a severe shortage of health aides, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, GoodTime’s HIPAA certification brings a timely solution to hiring teams in the healthcare industry. Consulting firm Mercer projects a shortage of over 400,000 home health aides and 29,400 nurse practitioners by 2025. The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) predicts a potential shortage of up to 122,000 physicians by 2032. This scarcity of healthcare professionals has intensified the competition for talent, making it crucial to fill open roles quickly to meet the needs of healthcare companies and the patients they serve.

Enhanced Possibilities with GoodTime’s HIPAA Certification

Healthcare organizations are already bound to strict HIPAA guidelines for any systems that directly handle sensitive patient information. As an extra measure of security for all protected health information (PHI), many of these organizations strive to only use HIPAA-compliant systems, even when those systems don’t directly interface with patients.

GoodTime’s certification is a significant milestone that re-affirms the company’s commitment to healthcare organizations and sets them apart as the only interview scheduling provider that is HIPAA-compliant. By adhering to the highest industry standards for data security and privacy, GoodTime helps healthcare talent acquisition teams streamline and automate their hiring workflows, minimize resource requirements, and fill roles faster in the midst of the labor shortage.

Ahryun Moon, GoodTime Co-Founder and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the recent HIPAA certification, highlighting its importance for healthcare organizations. Moon stated, “We are thrilled to have obtained the HIPAA certification, as it strengthens our dedication to healthcare organizations during this challenging time. With secure, automated, and efficient scheduling, healthcare hiring teams can fill open positions swiftly, without all the manual work, and ultimately deliver exceptional care to patients.”

GoodTime Hire leverages AI to revolutionize the healthcare hiring process, particularly for high-volume roles in the context of the labor shortage. GoodTime Announces High-Volume Hiring Product to Help Recruiters Automate Interview Scheduling

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – May 4, 2023 – GoodTime, the world’s first Meeting Optimization Engine, today announced the launch of its newest product, GoodTime Hire for High Volume. This latest offering provides talent teams with advanced automated interview scheduling capabilities for high-volume roles through SMS, WhatsApp, and email messaging. The product’s fully-customizable workflow editor significantly improves recruiter productivity and reduces time spent on manual, repetitive tasks through automation of the entire interview coordination process including triggering messages, invites, and reminders when specific events occur.

This release expands GoodTime’s product line to now support companies hiring for both corporate and high-volume roles, delivering efficiency and payroll savings in today’s challenging hiring landscape.

The challenges of high-volume hiring

Getting in front of qualified talent as fast as possible is crucial to filling high-volume roles. However, high-volume recruiters often face a surplus of open positions and insufficient time to fill them using outdated and manual processes. This leads to delays in scheduling candidate interviews, lower response rates, and a subpar candidate experience.

In GoodTime’s 2023 Hiring Insights Report, sectors typically known for hiring high-volume roles—retail, manufacturing, and healthcare—reportedly met just 50% or less of their hiring goals in 2022. Looking to the future, one of the top challenges expected by these sectors is the limitations of their current hiring technology. Leveraging new, advanced technology and automation gives talent teams the best chance to hit their hiring goals and fill high-volume roles faster with fewer resources.

With Hire for High Volume, talent teams can schedule interviews at scale through:

  • Automated Interview Scheduling: Quickly schedule candidates 1:1 or in bulk through SMS, WhatsApp, and email
  • SMS & WhatsApp Messaging: Reach candidates where they are with a mobile-first experience; mass-message or send personalized individual messages
  • Customizable Workflow Automation: Automatically trigger messages to candidates and hiring managers for invites, reminders, and nudges to spend more time on high-value tasks
  • Screening & Knock-out Questions: Identify the most qualified talent quickly with pre-built screening questionnaires and knock-out questions
  • Integrates Into Current Processes: Message candidates directly from applicant tracking systems, Indeed, or any website, right from the browser

“The challenges of high-volume recruiting are unlike those encountered in corporate hiring,” said Ahryun Moon, CEO and Co-Founder of GoodTime. “With these unique hurdles comes the need for tech solutions tailored to high-volume recruiters. That’s where Hire for High Volume comes in. Our new product allows recruiters to quickly reach out to candidates, schedule interviews effortlessly, and let automation free up bandwidth and boost productivity for every recruiter on the team.”

Hire for High Volume is available now as an add-on to the flagship GoodTime Hire product or as a standalone product. For more information, visit goodtime.io.

GoodTime and Gem Announce Partnership to Help Talent Acquisition Teams Streamline the Sourcing Process

GoodTime and Gem integration

March 28, 2023, SAN FRANCISCO – GoodTime, the world’s first Meeting Optimization Engine, today announced a new integration between its GoodTime Meet product, a scheduling software for remote and hybrid teams, and Gem, a talent engagement and analytics platform. Leveraged directly in Gem, the integration streamlines scheduling during the sourcing process by creating an automated experience for both recruiters and candidates.

Recruiters can synchronize Meet and Gem with just the click of a button from Gem’s settings. After recruiters add a Meet scheduling link from Meet’s Chrome extension or web app into their automated email sequences, Gem tracks when a candidate schedules a meeting and stops the sequence from sending further follow-ups. This eliminates the need for recruiters to manually track booked meetings and gives candidates an efficient experience.

“Talent professionals must aim to improve the candidate experience, and this is especially true when sourcing passive candidates. You want their experience to be as smooth and polished as possible,” said Ahryun Moon, CEO & Co-Founder at GoodTime. “This integration completely automates the scheduling process, creating a better candidate experience and saving time by eliminating back-and-forth emails. And now that recruiters don’t have to manually check when candidates schedule, their workload benefits as well.”

This integration of GoodTime Meet and Gem also allows recruiters to leverage company branding capabilities within Meet to share customized and branded scheduling pages seen by candidates. As a result, candidates receive a unique hiring experience and get to know the company’s brand from their very first first interaction with an organization.

“One of the things we hear constantly from talent professionals is that they struggle with tech stacks that aren’t integrated, and so they can’t offer a seamless candidate experience,” says Steve Bartel, CEO and Co-Founder at Gem. “And in this world in which talent brand perhaps matters more than ever, no hiring team can afford to overlook talent’s initial experience with their organization. We’re excited for this partnership and this integration because it will give passive talent that easeful experience—without taxing sourcers and recruiters in the process.”

Over 40% of Talent Leaders in Tech Set Sights on Efficiency and Automation, According to GoodTime Survey

GoodTime Releases 2023 Hiring Insights Report: Technology Edition

March 7, 2023, SAN FRANCISCO – After surveying 531 talent acquisition leaders across sectors for its 2023 Hiring Insights Report, today GoodTime released the report’s technology edition, featuring sector-specific insights. Based on responses from 103 talent acquisition (TA) leaders in tech, the report highlights the challenges tech hiring leaders face in a tenuous economy and explores changes companies are making to weather the storm.

The high-level findings from the 2023 Hiring Insights Report, Technology Edition, include:

  • Only 52% of hiring goals were met by tech hiring teams in 2022
  • 34% of subjects reported mental health and wellness concerns as a top challenge last year
  • A whopping 57% of subjects reported layoffs; 22% reported a reduction in force of 20% or more
  • 46% of respondents will increase personalization in the hiring process in the coming year
  • Over 40% of TA leaders look to improve hiring efficiency and automation through better tech recruiting software in 2023

Economy hit tech TA teams especially hard

The report paints a stark picture of challenges endured by tech TA leaders over the past twelve months, with 34% of respondents citing mental health concerns as a top challenge. Adapting to a remote interview process (30%) and resume-skill mismatch (28%) took second and third place as the biggest challenges faced. In today’s economy, TA leaders must manage company expectations with reductions in force while being empathetic to employee burnout and navigating an ever-changing remote or hybrid interview process.

Efficiency and automation a top focus

Looking ahead, hiring leaders know that efficiency and automation are needed to deliver against hiring goals with less budget and fewer people. Hiring hurdles anticipated over the next 12 months include candidates withdrawing from the hiring process (30%) and parental work-life balance (27%), as candidates are only too ready to drop out of an inefficient process that doesn’t fulfill their expectations. A slow-moving, impersonal process that leaves candidates guessing is no longer an option for TA teams in tech to remain competitive.

“We feel the pain that the tech sector is facing in this hiring climate,” said Ahryun Moon, CEO of GoodTime. “TA teams must improve efficiency and automate while creating a more bespoke candidate experience that sticks with top talent. Understanding challenges and opportunities, both past and present, helps hiring leaders to understand how best to set themselves up for future success.”
